Landscape - Black Lake

This was taken the day before Easter at Black Lake. It was a very dark and rainy day but it was the only day I had free to take the landscape shots.
I think this shows how gloomy the day really was.

  1. You were probably the ONLY photog on Black lake that day - RIGHT? (at least it was a bit warmer than in December on 6th St!)

The image is successful is capturing the atmosphere/mood of a PNW Easter Sunday!

I like the atmospheric perspective created along the background overlapping rows of trees, creating the illusion of depth (space) in a 2D image. The silhouetted shapes in the middle ground add variety and interest.

What do you think about the amount of water you included in the foreground of the image? What was your intent? What factors lead you to deciding what to include and exclude from the frame?

  2. It's a dark (moody) shot for sure, but I really like the effect. I like the layers of gray trees in the background and I like that you can see the rain drops hitting the water in the foreground.
