Old Photos- Andrea

While reviewing my old photos, I noticed that almost ALL of them are of children. I love taking pictures of kids. They are so spontaneous, show their emotions so readily, and are full of excitement and wonder. I came across a photo of my middle son, then two years-old, taken last spring when I first got my camera. The exposure is terrible (what was I thinking??? ISO 400, f/2.2 on a bright sunny day!...oh, I wasn't thinking because I didn't know how to use my camera back then) and there is a very distracting line made by the sun/shade going through the back part of the photo. What I love about the picture is the moment in time that was captured in my son's life, when he was completely unaware of any gender stereotypes and could happily dance around the backyard with the dogs in a frilly tutu and batman cape. So, even if this photo is flawed beyond repair and my son is centered in the image, I will never delete it. But I am happy now that I can look at my histogram and realize ahead of time which adjustments need to be made to get a properly exposed shot.

  1. This shot just makes me feel HAPPY. What more do we REALLY need in life - Our best pink shimmering dress, a superhero power cape, bare feet, a colorful trike, our best friend, a warm sunny day and our imagination. PERFECTION!
